Honest Opinion

There are some HP ships I hate and love like you!

Some people loath the idea of Ron and Hermione as a married couple some people love it. Some people love the potential behind Harry and Hermione’s friendship some people just can’t see it. Some people love the idea of Draco and Hermione as lovers some people see only hate and disgust. Some people belives Snape was perfect for Lily some people think James and Lily meant to be. Some people just belives the passionate hate between Draco and Harry is unresolved sexual tension some people just repulsed by the idea.

And?

You like every shipper find happiness in writing/ reading fanfictions, make/watch graphics and videos about your OTP. We do it to show other people how they make us feel, to connect with others who feel the same joy in it! We write miles long essays about moments between our choosen couple, showing what we loved, how we saw that look, that smile, that touch, that little sentence as declaration of an undying love. We all felt anger and annoyance when we see the rival ships’s essays, graphics. We all rolled our eyes on comments that were pointing out moments of underlying passion between their OTP where we only saw blank stares. We all laughed at cheesy graphics were they showed their couple in a romantic atmosphere.

We all did that.

We all have different life experiences, we have different personalities, not just us fans but JKR also. We will never see things the same. Its like you have a group of friends of girl and boys. You just stop for  moment a think that this touch must mean Peter likes Annie, and that glance must mean Tomas cheats on Suzie with Maria. And even if they are married you will see things differently. Annie and Peter always argue but they always make up. You will either think they are lucky they could always work it out or you will think they should divorce because they just hurt each other so much you see their marriage like a terrible one.  Maybe Annie says she is happy and you will belive it or you will think she lies, can’t see that it could be better with someone else.

You feel the right to form an opinion about them, its bound to happen. Like with the books. We all feel the right to say things that would have been better another way. Not just with our ships. Saying that Fred should be alive doesn’t makes you less of a fan, why would saying Snape should be with Lily?

We should learn one thing. Tolerance.

Respect others! We all have to accept the books ended with our favorite characters dead, or our OTP’s remained friends or enemies. But it doesn’t mean you can’t play with the idea of what if? How would you feel R/Hr shipper if Ron really died like JKR planned? And you ship would have sank because she decided that It did go that way and Harry ended up with Hermione? You would desperatly write fanfictions about a reality where he isn’t dead, you would quote all the dialoges and moments between them where apart from secret glances and smiles nothing really happened. How would you feel if you were bombard with hate mailes and comments on every R/HR realted post you make saying you are not true fan! And its also goes to those H/Hr, H/G , LL/ RW, D/H, G/N, LE/JP, PP/ LE…etc shippers who do this with each other.

There is an advice we should take (including me)

1. If you don’t like that ship don’t go to it’s shippers blogs avoid it as much as you can. If you do accidently, do not comment, leave it immedately. Take 3 deep breath and go to your favorite OTP blog, read some fanfiction about them.

2. If you see some post about the rival ship leave it to them. Roll your eyes as much you want but do not read it, it will just make you angry.

3. You can express yourself and your opinon about the rival ship but always be polite!

There is this  fantastic world of Magic which we grow up with. We all feel that we own a little part of it. It’s really a part of us. All of us, Potterheads! JKR created this fantasy world where we all found friends we loved and enemies we hate, it gave us a second home a place where we can go for comfort. Don’t destroy it with hatred and ship wars.
